Operating System(OS)

An operating system (OS) is a software program that manages computer hardware, software resources, and provides general computer programming services.

Operating time-sharing programs plan system utilization activities and may include software for the cost of time processing of processor, mass storage, printing and other resources.

With computer hardware functions such as input and output and memory allocation, the app acts as a link between programs and computer hardware, [1] [2] although application code is usually generated directly by the hardware and often makes system calls to OS Activity or interrupted by it. Operating systems available on most computer-assisted devices - from mobile and video game consoles to web servers and supercomputers.

The standard operating system [3] for desktop is Microsoft Windows with a market share of about 76.45%. MacOS produced by Apple Inc. is in second place (17.72%), and Linux versions collectively are in third place (1.73%). [4] In the mobile sector (including smartphones and tablets), the share of Android is up to 72% by 2020. [5] According to data from the third quarter of 2016, Android's share of smartphones is 87.5 percent with a growth rate of 10.3 percent per year, followed by Apple's 12.1 percent annual decline in the market share of 12 percent. 5.2, while some applications operate only 0.3 percent. [6] Linux distribution is high in server and major sectors. Some special classes of applications (applications for special purposes), [3] [7] such as embedded real-time systems, exist in many applications. Security-focused applications exist. Some applications have low system requirements (e.g. Linux low weight distribution). Some may have higher system requirements.

Some operating systems need to be installed or can be pre-installed with purchased computers (OEM installation), while others may work directly from media (eg live cd) or flash memory (eg USB stick).
