Nuro Inc And Domino's Pizza Collaborate To Deliver Pizza With Drones

Domino’s Pizza Inc and Nuro Inc have announced that they will be launching a pizza delivery system based on robots in Houston. Nuro Inc. is a Silicon Valley start-up and surpassed all other private cars that started and gained regulatory approval. The company also won an American license last year allowing the company to start private delivery services.



According to Cosimo Leipold, head of Nuro's partner relations, the pizza delivery service with a drone will enter the beginning of the Dominos store in Houston and will add two more locations, under long-term cooperation between the two firms.


According to a statement sent by email by Leipold, it is very difficult for large companies to hire a sufficient number of drivers to meet the demand for delivery.

Nuro is already partnering with many vendors to deliver food and snacks. Some of these vendors include Kroger Co, Walmart Inc, and CVS Health Corp. Leipold also confirmed that their weekly deliveries had increased almost three times in the first three months of the epidemic.


Additionally, Houston is the fourth largest in the US and has one of the highest rates of road deaths. According to Leipold, these roads have created challenging conditions for their technology to work with.


In 2019, Nuro and Domino's were expected to launch a robotic pizza delivery program by the end of the same year. According to Leipold, "Nuro and Domino's have taken a proactive approach to prioritizing smooth and secure shipping."


Nuro Inc was founded in 2016, by two former Google engineers, and the company has raised $ 940 from SoftBank Vision Fund. The total value of Nuro Inc is more than $ 5 billion, after the company acquired $ 500 million, which includes an equal investment of Woven Capital, the company's investment unit under Toyota Motor Corp.
